Source and Licensing Policy
Heartline Works original designs
All designs currently published were created by Heartline Works. The default licence is: free to use for personal projects and for products you make and sell; please do not resell, share or redistribute the design files themselves. The exact terms are stated on each design page.
Sources for any future imported designs
Accepted sourcesWe import from collections that publish reuse rights in a machine-readable way (for example open-access programmes of museums and libraries), and from files supplied directly by the site owner.
Licence rules
- CC0 and clearly marked public-domain items can be accepted automatically.
- Items with other or unclear terms are held for manual review.
- Items that are restricted, “all rights reserved”, or lack evidence of reuse rights are rejected.
- We do not copy designs from other design websites.
What each design page shows
- The source institution and a link back to the original record.
- The licence label as published by the source.
- The credit line, where one exists.
- A plain description of what we changed (for example “traced from a scanned print and cleaned”).
A public-domain artwork can still be depicted in a way that carries other rights (for example a photographer’s rights in some jurisdictions). We record what the source states and we respond to rights concerns promptly; see the copyright page.
This policy describes our process and is not legal advice. You are responsible for checking that your intended use is permitted where you live and sell.
